List building

Postby SooP » August 3rd, 2009, 12:59 am

Who actively builds an independent list ?
How do you store the list and what method/s do you use to contact your list?

If you only use the tools provided by VWD to contact your list you are very limited in what can be sent out. You should not have URL's that do not directly go to your VWD web site. for example you would not be able to direct them to this forum.

However if you have your own list (that is opted in) and email them independently you have much more freedom in what can be sent out.

I send by 3 different methods ( aweber, an independent mail service, also group sends through outlook express).
I collect contact information in a number of ways online as well as off line and am very interested in what everybody else does, and what methods you think are best.

The Money Is in The List. Keep saying it to yourself.

I have a number of splash pages. Send Me The DVD builds my list. I get email and postal address.

Simon T is the list king. He knows how to work his list.

I use a service for Intelligent Mailer through an elottery member, works well for my purposes. Like you say key is to having your own list these days.

I was just think about list building. Wouldn’t it be good if you could integrate aweber into our vwd pages. I was think if someone visits the player website they are encouraged to leave their email details for you and not VWD. That way you can keep in contact with them.

I’ll have a look around, unless anyone know how I can find away to do this?

Hi Gary
Yes I know a way for you to do this, I will email you about this so no rules are broken on the forum. Have a look at my elottery guest page to see an example of how this works. www.TheAtlasGroup.co.uk

I agree it is very important to build our own lists... lets say you started work with another network company as well and wanted to email your list...you couldnt do this if you did not have them stored and opted in separately from the company web site.

Sue that looks a great idea. I knew if I ask the question here someone would know the answer.

I have also been worried that I could loose prospects when they visit the player site if they click away. That software means that I can now caputere their deatails and send follow up emails.

Sue was it easy to set up?

Did they supply the lottery ticket picture?

Hi Gary.

Yes it is simple to set up, It took me about 5 minuets and i am NO computer wiz!
The picture was one i had stored in my computer. You can upload any picture you wish, or non at all. You can even put on a video if you wish. you can make up to 10.000 of these capture pages and use them on facebook, twitter etc. You also have all the text editing options so can say whatever you want in any font and color.

Glad to help

Sue, marcus was asking about face book in another thread, I guess he could use this to caputer names and adresses of people from face who wanted to know the lottery results?

What details can you capture. Do you have the option to caputer phone numbers?

If you are adding people to your own list what sort of things do you tend to send out to them, rollover emails etc?

The works!.... 1st off I send them the emails the company would send out...they are at the bottom of the prospects page in back office.
I also send them rollover information, and anything of interest I can think of :smile1: I work on the principal that eventually they will either join or unsubscribe... if they unsubscribe they were probably never going to join anyway so nothing lost

I encourage them to play GAG, did you know that its no longer 3 free goes? but 1 go for each UK Lotto draw for as long as they want?

You have the option to ask for just about any information, But I tend not to as the more you ask ...like a phone number... the less likely they are to fill out a form I have found.

I would split test, and see what you get using a more detailed form to one just asking name and email

That's good advice.

As you said as well Sue, send them info often. That way the get use to you and can see that e lottery is not here today gone tommorow.

I must admit i do like this way of adding a capture page to your VWD page, would be interesting to know how many signup.

At least this way you will hopefully get that person as a lead either way which is always a good thing.

Also you can now just direct people to the main vwd page and don't have to panice about loosing them.

Actually i also notice the vwd emails have been cut down somewhat, i have just tended to send out email blasts rather than a autoresponder, have you had more success with sending the elottery emails yourself aswell?

I can't stress enough how important it is to build your own managed list. Over the next few week I am going to add the bit of software to my VWD pages.

Sue thanks for telling us about it.
